In the Yarlung Valley, east of Lhasa, stands Yumbulakhang fortified palace of the first Tibetan kings. Samye, on the banks of the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra), is Tibet’s oldest monastery and one of its most beautiful.

day 4: via Dorje Drak to Samye
day 5: visit Samye Gompa – then cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) to Yambulakhang & Tradruk. Overnight Tsetang
day 6: drive to Gyantse via Khamba-la pass, Yamdrok Lake & Karo-la Glacier
day 7: visit Pelkhor Choede – via Shalu to Sakya
day 8: visit Sakya Gompa – to Shigatse & visit Tashilumpo Monastery
day 9: return to Lhasa via Yungdrungling Bon Monastery
day 10: transfer to Lhasa airport for departure
